Homebound
Homebound is an art book featuring works by Andrea Denice Sy. It is a story about relationships with “threads” as a metaphor. It was the artist’s homecoming exhibition since she had moved to the United States.
Her works have a child-like quality, and discuss relationships through the metaphor of “threads”. Because of this, I chose that the dimensions for the book be relatively small, similar to that of a journal. Since her artworks were hand drawn and had various aspect ratios, I chose squarish dimensions for the book. Combined with a ring bind, it also connoted a personal journey.
Given the theme, I wanted to show that each page is an artwork, and that they can be connected by threads.
The book sold out in one week. Additional prints sold out in a month.
